NFL Week 1 Picks, 1.1

I missed this one:

Cincinnati -2.5 at New York Jets: The Negro Bowl, as two of the AFC's best teams battle it out despite being led by black coaches.  The Bengals probably have the premier roster in football, loaded with *stars* on both sides of the ball.  They make the playoffs every year. . .and then trip on a blade of FieldTurf.  What's the problem?  Why can't Marvin Lewis, the Greatest Colored Coach of All-Time (if you don't consider Tom Flores colored) win a Super Bowl, like lesser-negro coaches Tony Dungy and Mike Tomlin?  Is the problem Lewis?  His QB Andy Dalton?  Bad luck?  Just fate?  I don't know. . .but I think this is the year for Marvin Lewis. . .Denver has a mediocre QB, the Pats start with a 4 game handicap, the Steelers have almost as much talent, but their QB is punchy, and their running back is usually either suspended or injured. . .the field is clear for the Bengals in the AFC.  As for the Jets, they have a Super Bowl defense. . .and a Dollar General Bowl offense, headed by fruitcake-looking QB Ryan Fitzpatrick, who seems to be the Jets QB only because he was best-looking fat girl left at last call.  Cincinnati.

  1. Jacksonville had a chance to get what faggy sports announcers call a *signature win,* but came up short at the end. . .did not like the play call. . .tough loss for the Jags, who still have the stench of bottom feeders on them.

  2. Ha! Great call by Del Rio to go for 2. . .real football call there. . .let's hope his D don't play soft and give up a *prevent-provoke* FG on the Saints last chance drive.

  3. Great win for the Raiders! Del Rio with a real coaches call! The kind of win up-and-coming teams get, and for the Saints, the kind of loss teams on the decline take.

  4. RG3 loses is paper Mache. More bad news for Cleveland.

Birds took a loss. Just awful.

Raiders look like winners. No pussy football

  5. I thought Quinn was supposed to be a defensive master-mind, but maybe he was just caretaking Carroll's system?

  6. The Browns defense must be horrible. . .Wentz had no real trouble. Cleveland might be able to pull a Marinelli, go 0-16, the Eagles was probably their easiest game on the schedule.

  7. It's back to shoot outs. Ryan is a decent to good QB. He needs a run game. The defense needs a run game. This is something Wade Phillips gets which is why the Broncos win with crippled or okay quarterbacks.

Quinn ain't all that. He looked a part for Blank.

The only good thing about today is Mike Smith is DC for TB. That had to feel good

  8. Detroit trying to give one away

  9. Man, if the Lions had blown that one. . .

Nice job by Stafford on the last drive. . .he had one of his better games. Good win for Dee-troit.

  10. Stafford was right to be pissed at that receiver for not going out of bounds. And of course a Detroit game ends with a safety due to an illegal fwd pass. Only Detroit can require the rule book to end a game

  11. A lot of tight games this first weekend. . .the National Parity League loves all these games going down to the wire. . .only Cleveland looks like a chump team.

  12. That Pats/Cards game is an overall bad indicator for the Cards. They should have easily won that game what with Brady and Gronk out the lineup, along with some other Pat injuries on the line.

Fitzgerald looked excellent. Palmer looks worn out. If this is his first week, after being pampered through training camp, how is he going to look in week 12? Shit, week 5?

Belechick is a great coach but is he that much greater than Arians? I don't think so.

There's a lot of controversy about the helmet hits on Cam Newton. I watched that game and it's difficult to say they were illegal hits because Cam was not in the pocket nor was he sliding when hit. There was at least one hit to his helmet that HE caused himself but directing his helmet into the defender's helmet.

Surely another racial controversy is in the stock.

And this is America, 2016, where you can't get away from the putrid politics, even watching a football game. The national anthems, the forced patriotism, the flag waving, and now the BLM/Trans/SJW/Etc crowd wants to horn in on the propaganda.

It doesn't matter to the NFL or Goddell. Peace in his time. Goddell will cash out eventually, pushed out when his coverup of concussions becomes obvious.

We're in the last decade of American Football, 20 years tops. Enjoy it while you can.

  13. I think you are right about these being the *End Times* for American football. . .no doubt the head injury shit will eventually make the game monetarily impossible to play with human beings. . .unless the League gets some form of congressional exemption from safety liability.

RGIII already out, and Browns now back to McClown. . .horrible franchise, rivaling the Lions of the Matt Millen years. They are a real threat to go 0-16.

Very surprised Arizona couldn't beat NE. . .I thought their offense was well-suited to take advantage of NE's defense. . .yes, Palmer didn't through it very well, and I though, like most NFL teams nowadays, they didn't really work the run game enough. 16 carries for the halfback? Marcus Allen used to get that in one half. . .
